Vizsla Clubs are organized and welcome fanciers of the breed and promote interests of Vizslas. Members of Vizsla clubs are devoted breed owners. Most of them participate in competitive activities. Some work in Vizsla rescues. Clubs hold monthly meetings and events. Clubs have active breed information and keep current with all the changes and novelties that are connected with the breed.
Vizslas - Rescue Groups and Organizations
Vizsla rescues are normally non-profit volunteer organizations that are dedicated to finding new homes for abandoned and lost Vizsla dogs. They get dogs out of shelters and re-home dogs for owners who, for some reason, can no longer care for their pets. Most rescue organizations and groups work out of a love for the Vizsla breed. They cover their expenses with donations. Many rescue Vizslas are far from being in top form and perfect health. All rescue dogs are spayed or neutered. While in rescues, they are provided with necessary veterinary care.
Vizslas - Health Issues
On the whole, Vizslas are a very healthy breed and possess great endurance. The dogs of this breed can be prone to skin allergies. Vizslas are sensitive to anesthesia. Before surgeries Vizsla owners should consult their veterinarian in connection with this issue.
Hip dysplasia can be a problem. Therefore, all Vizslas that are used for breeding should be x-rayed and certified to be clear of hip dysplasia by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals.
