Vizslas - Physical Description

Vizslas are medium-sized dogs, elegant and muscular. Vizslas are both robust and rather slightly built. The Vizsla has a great stamina and is fast and energetic. Vizslas have a beautiful gold-colored coat. Their short coat is sleek. The dog's head has an aristocratic look. The long muzzle is tapering. The skull is slightly domed. The long ears are pendant. The medium-sized eyes should not be prominent. The eye color should be the same as the coat color.

The dog's body should be well proportionate. The Vizsla's neck is rather muscular. The thick tail should reach to the back of the stifle joint. An undocked tail of Vizslas is penalized.

Vizslas - Temperament

Vizslas are smart dogs and can be easily trained. However, they are reported to be both gentle and willful at times. In order to prevent a Vizsla from being destructive and disobedient, its owner should give it sufficient amount of exercise. Vizsla owners claim that Vizslas are chewers.

As Vizslas are hunting dogs, it is advisable to supervise them when smaller pets are around. The Vizslas breed excels in tracking, watchdogging, pointing, retrieving, and competitive obedience.
